A community banker for the past 35 years, Christopher Becker serves as the President and Chief Executive Officer at The First of Long Island Corporation and The First National Bank of Long Island. He is a member of the Board of Directors of both companies. Chris joined First National Bank LI in 2011 and was Executive Vice President and Chief Risk Officer prior to being named President and CEO in 2020.
Chris is transforming First National Bank LI to serve next-generation customers by leading a new branding effort, enhancing digital offerings, and optimizing the branch network. Building on a long history of extraordinary customer service, he is adding local relationship bankers to the branch and lending teams. Always mindful of increasing shareholder value, he is cognizant of maintaining consistent financial performance while implementing new initiatives.
Chris began his career at The Bridgehampton National Bank (BNB) where he spent nearly 19 years, eventually serving as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. He was the Chief Financial Officer of BNB for several years before becoming the Chief Operating Officer. After BNB, he served as Director, President and CEO of a national bank in organization and was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the Bank of Smithtown.
He earned a master’s degree in financial management from the University of Massachusetts, a bachelor’s degree in business, public administration and accountancy from Long Island University, an associate’s degree in accounting from Suffolk County Community College and graduated from the American Bankers Association’s Stonier Graduate School of Banking.
Active in industry and community affairs, Chris is currently the Treasurer of the New York Bankers Association and serves on its Board of Directors. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the YMCA of Long Island and the Long Island Association.
